The gathering with 380 attendees and a 50-car convoy reflects how EV ownership in Malaysia is evolving beyond driving into a connected lifestyle
SHAH ALAM, 15 April 2026 – PRO-NET, a subsidiary of national carmaker PROTON and Malaysia’s No.1 EV brand, recently brought its owners together for a Raya Open House, celebrating the growing community behind the No.1 EV brand in Malaysia. Held on 12 April 2026 at DoubleTree by Hilton Shah Alam i-City, the event welcomed over 380 attendees Proton e.MAS owners from across the Klang Valley.
The highlight of the day was a convoy of 50 Proton e.MAS vehicles, including the Proton e.MAS 7, Proton e.MAS 5, and Proton e.MAS 7 PHEV, travelling together from the PROTON Centre of Excellence (COE) to i-City, Shah Alam. The convoy marked a meaningful moment for the community, reflecting how far it has come, with more EVs now becoming a common sight on Malaysian roads.
Puan Salawati Mohd Yusoff, Chief Brand Officer of PRO-NET, said: “This Raya Open House is not about the festivity, but really about our owners. It is great for us from PRO-NET to see real Proton e.MAS owner and hear them sharing first-hand owner experiences and feedback in this meaningful gathering. As Malaysia’s No.1 EV brand, we want to continue building this community while ensuring our customers feel supported throughout their ownership journey.”
Enhancing Proton e.MAS Ownership Benefits Through Strategic Partnerships
Beyond the celebration, the event was also a moment to recognise and appreciate Proton e.MAS owners for their journeys with the brand. Through a series of Customer Appreciation Awards, PRO-NET celebrated different aspects of ownership; the Distance Award recognised the owner with the highest mileage, the Highest Charging Award recognised the owner with the highest frequency of charging activity tracked through the Proton e.MAS app ecosystem, while the Participation Award acknowledged owners who actively support and participate in PRO-NET-led activities.
Enhancing Proton e.MAS ownership, PRO-NET is actively exploring collaborations with key partners such as ZUS Coffee and Huawei as part of its growing ecosystem initiatives. More details on these partnerships and upcoming benefits will be shared progressively. Proton e.MAS owners are encouraged to stay updated via the Proton e.MAS Official Community and the Proton e.MAS App for the latest announcements.
Balik Kampung, Now Made Easier with EV
For many, this Raya marked their first balik kampung experience with an EV, something that is quickly becoming more familiar. One Proton e.MAS owner Muhammad Azri shared, “Using the Proton e.MAS app made charging very straightforward. I could easily locate charging points, plan my stops, and monitor the process along the way. It made the whole journey feel seamless and removed a lot of the uncertainty I initially had about driving an EV over long distances.”
Another owner, who has clocked high mileage with their vehicle, Muhammad Nasrun Afiq added, “Driving the Proton e.MAS over longer distances has been surprisingly easy and comfortable. The drive is smooth, and with proper planning, travelling across states is no longer a concern. It has changed the way I look at EVs as a practical option for daily use and long journeys.”
Proton e.MAS encourages owners to join its official Proton e.MAS Official Community Facebook Group to stay connected, exchange experiences, and be part of upcoming activities and initiatives. Through this platform, PRO-NET together with fellow owners foster a strong KitaJagaKita spirit, where the community not only receives updates and support from PRO-NET, but also actively helps and engages with one another through shared experiences and meaningful interactions.
